Landscape Photography
My style as a landscape photographer lies in my earlier influences and not being constrained by any formal training. Common learning and belief would tell you to always use a tripod for landscape work, be patient and wait. The great street photographers of the 1940s and 1950s (Cartier-Bresson, Doisneau and Brassaï) would search the streets with their camera in hand, ready to capture the decisive moment and, if missed, would move on to the next possibility. I took their influence and methods and used it in the landscape – one camera, one lens, no tripod and no patience and there was no one to tell me I shouldn't, no teacher to tell me I couldn't. A lucky collision between ignorance and influence.
