Dublin Remastered (new)
In 2018, I began scanning my complete back catalogue of analogue work—an ongoing process of transferring 50,000 negatives into digital format. As I saved each file, I also started remastering the images I felt were the strongest from this vast archive. The original darkroom process was limiting; only a small number of negatives could be printed, leaving many images unseen. With digital reproduction and seamless scanning, the process is now more forgiving, offering new tools to bring out the best in each negative. Suddenly, these unused negatives became a treasure trove of “new” images, spanning from my early 1980s work to my last analogue photographs in 2005. Rather than simply adding these remastered images to existing portfolios, I decided to honour their uniqueness by creating a series of new portfolios, beginning with Dublin Remastered.
